ATTORNEY — HOA/POA LITIGATION POSITION
About the Firm
Sprigg-Novak Law Firm, PLLC is a civil litigation boutique headquartered at Preston Road and the Dallas North Tollway in North Dallas — one of the most accessible and professionally desirable addresses in the DFW Metroplex. Our two founding partners, Jeffrey Sprigg and Craig R. Novak, MPA, JD, bring more than thirty years of combined litigation experience across municipal, state, and federal courts, with thousands of court appearances between them.
The firm concentrates on real estate and property disputes, business litigation, landlord-tenant matters, post-foreclosure litigation, debt collection, and — a rapidly expanding practice area — homeowners and property owners association litigation. We are aggressive advocates who are also pragmatic counselors: we give clients straight answers, build tailored strategy, and see matters through. We are not a firm that settles reflexively or litigates recklessly. We are a firm that wins.
Sprigg-Novak is a place where attorneys do real work. There is no hierarchy of credit, no origination politics, and no bureaucratic drag. You will be in court. You will shape strategy. You will handle matters that matter.
The Opportunity
As HOA and POA litigation has become an increasingly significant component of Texas civil practice, we are expanding our capacity in this practice area and seeking an experienced litigator to join the firm. This is a substantive role — not a staff position — in a firm with an established reputation, a functioning client base, and well-developed systems for delivering high-quality, efficient legal services.
We recognize that accomplished attorneys have different goals and different life circumstances. Accordingly, we are open to multiple engagement structures:
- Partner-level engagement, for a candidate with an established book of business in the HOA/POA space or a broader real estate and civil litigation practice;
- Associate or senior associate engagement, for a candidate seeking a defined role with clear growth opportunity in a niche practice;
- Job-share arrangement, for two qualified attorneys who each seek a meaningful approximately 20-hour-per-week engagement — a structure we are genuinely open to and prepared to structure thoughtfully.
We are focused on finding the right attorney. Compensation and engagement structure will be discussed individually and will reflect the candidate's experience, contribution, and book of business.
Position Requirements
- Active State Bar of Texas license in good standing, with no disciplinary history;
- Minimum five (5) years of litigation experience, with meaningful trial and hearing experience at the district court level;
- Demonstrated experience in HOA/POA matters — including assessment disputes, enforcement actions, CC&R interpretation, lien foreclosure, or related community association litigation — strongly preferred;
- Proficiency in Texas civil procedure, including motion practice, discovery, and post-judgment proceedings;
- Familiarity with the Texas Property Code (particularly Chapters 202–204 and 209), the Texas Residential Property Owners Protection Act, and the Texas Uniform Condominium Act is a significant advantage;
- Strong drafting skills across pleadings, motions, and correspondence;
- Experience representing either associations or individual property owners is acceptable — we represent both;
- Ability to manage a docket with multiple concurrent matters and varying deadlines;
- Collaborative disposition consistent with a two-attorney firm where judgment, discretion, and trust are essential.
